I. FACILITATE AND INSPIRE STUDENT LEARNING AND CREATIVITY Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning, and technology to facilitate experiences that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual environments.
Promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness
Engage students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources
Promote student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students’ conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative processes
Model collaborative knowledge construction by engaging in learning with students, colleagues, and others in face-to-face and virtual environments
REFLECTION
This standard allows instructors to show creativity and innovation. Students are able to collaborate on works and reflect their learning experiences. During the study of the program, I have opportunities to use various technology applications to promote the creative and innovative thinking skills. I also collaborated with my fellow classmates through the weekly discussion post on blog by reflect on what we learned through the reading and lecture materials or answer assigned questions by professor. The artifacts chosen reflect the areas where I believe this standard has been met. Group Project: The group project consisted of different digital communication tools available for teachers, students, and parents. The tool I used was KIK. In the group project each group member discussed his or her tool of choice. We demonstrated among the group on how to use each tool and discussed the pros and cons of each. We created a paper combined in Google Doc together. The report discussed each tool, challenges of using the tool within the classroom, and the different teaching strategies available. The artifact demonstrated the ability to use digital tools and resources in a real-world setting. Blogfolio: Blogs were a great learning experience for my classmates and I. It allowed us to get to know one another and forced us to communicate with our online classmates. We had to read and comment on other group member’s reflections that led to group discussions weekly. The blog allowed us to use digital communication and kept us engaging in learning. Google Slide: Google slides gave each group member the ability to create and edit an online presentation and collaborate from different places. It helped students improve their power point skills and Google slides made it possible to do as a group effort remotely.
In the future I plan to use the tools I have been given to apply to my own classroom. I thought at first that the assignments were difficult but they are actually very helpful teaching tools, once you learn how to use them. I will continue to share my knowledge with other teachers within my field
